New Wave: Aquí tenemos varios estilos del pop rock  ya que es una fusión de los dos, y con influencias del punk también. Usan sintetizadores. 

Referentes Blondie, B-52 ...

The Clash

Punk Rock: Surge a mediados de los 70 canciones que llaman a la anarquía, que no creen en el sistema. Muchos de los grupos son autodidactas y con grados de dominio musical bastantes dispares. 

Referentes: The Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols.  

Rock Psicodélico: Se intenta replicar lo que se experimenta usando drogas, usan el Folk, Free jazz, ragas de la india, y musica electrónica muy temprana que empezaba a usarse. 

Referentes: The Beatles, The Byrds, The Beach Boys, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix ...

Art Rock: Influenciado por el arte contemporáneo y la vanguardia, destaca por la experimentación  y letras complejas. Se consolida a principios de los 70.

Referente: David Bowie, Roxy Music, The Velvet Underground, Talking Heads, incluso Pink FLoyd.
