Art Rock: Como parte del Rock Alternativo es una mezcla entre distintos géneros, una especie de rock experimental con influencias vanguardistas de tipo surrealista, eso se nota sobretodo en las letras y en la estética visual de las portadas y la imagen de los grupos en general , en cuanto a los sonidos es una fusion entre rock progresivo, musica electronica, y brit-pop, pero como todo lo experimental cada banda es un mundo.

Grunge: Rock alternativo fusion entre el Hard Rock, el Punk y el Noise.

Madchester: subgrupo del jangle pop, utilizan elementos del indie rock con sonidos electrónicos y ritmos disco y psicodélicos aunque cada banda sigue su propio estilo. Tienen su origen en la ciudad de Manchester. Influyeron mucho a lo que posteriormente seria el britpop o incluso al grunge pudiendo considerarlos precursores de bandas como Oasis o Nirvana entre otras. Su gran referente fueron The Stone Roses, aunque también fueron muy influyentes en el movimiento The Smiths, New Order y The Fall.
